Effect of Urea Addition on Anatase Phase Enrichment and Nitrogen Doping of TiO2 for Photocatalytic Abatement of Methylene Blue

TiO2-based materials are commonly employed as photocatalysts for industrial wastewater treatment. The primary reasons of employing TiO2 include cost effectiveness, ready availability, eco-friendliness, non-toxic behavior, and exceptional resistance towards photo-corrosion. However, the wider band gap pure restricts its performance because optical absorption solar light to ultraviolet (UV) region only, some extent photo-excited charge recombination. In present work an attempt is made develop a facile synthesis approach by using urea, cheap chemical precursor, form nitrogen doped with key objective extended thus enhanced photocatalytic performance. It was also observed that urea-induced anatase phase enrichment another factor in promoting prepared varying amount urea dopant characterized X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL) evaluate their crystallinity, morphology, functional groups, separation properties, respectively. Moreover, surface area estimated physicochemical adsorption. maximum nitrogen-doped sample yielded >99% photodegradation efficiency methylene blue (MB) dye-simulated compared which exhibited 6.46% efficiency. results show simultaneous factors doping enhancement contributes significantly improvement
